Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs (Cimex lectularius) have reemerged in recent years to become a problem pest once again.  Industry experts claim that this increase in population of bed bugs is due to increased travel among humans.

Typically, where bed bug infestations exist; hotels tend to have larger populations due to having rooms in close quarters.  Many times bed bugs are transported back to people’s homes by means of hitching a ride on luggage from staying in a dwelling that is infested.

Although bed bugs are typically not associated with disease transmission, they are known for leaving itchy, irritated and inflamed red marks on the skin.  This is caused by the salivary fluid that is injected into the skin during a blood meal.

Local Impact:

Unfortunately, bed bug problems aren't just found in big cities, they are local too!  Click Here to see a news story from one of our local television stations.

Inspection:

Proper inspection is vital to determine the severity of the problem along with all of the nesting sites.  This allows for our technicians to develop a course of action to eliminate the problem.  Proper training and experience allows our technicians to locate any problems.

We also are able to deploy a Bed Bug Detecting Canine to sweep commercial or residential facilities in order to find infestations of live bed bugs.  This proven, effective and documented inspection technique is a great method for detecting even the smallest infestations.

Treatment:

Bed bugs can be one of the more difficult household pests to get rid of, but our trained technicians have the experience necessary to get the job done.

We have the ability to deploy different methods for treating infestations whether it is through conventional pesticide applications, heat treatments or a combination of both.  Bed Bugs are unable to survive in temperatures over 113ºF for more than a few minutes.  That is why heat treatments have become an effective tool.  Our specialized equipment is able to achieve these temperatures to stop them in their tracks.  This combined with a conventional treatment ensures there is a residual effect if any are reintroduced to the premises.

Big infestation or small, we know either way, it is just as important to have a good treatment.  Call PMi for an inspection today if you feel bed bugs may be on your property.
